When 2 minute noodles no longer take 2 minutes!

I HATE noodles!
I've never really liked them actually.

One day at intermediate (form one/year7) a girl brought them for lunch and ate them raw. Dried up. Then proceeded to eat the flavouring by licking the end of her finger and dipping it in like a sour pop. So we all decided we'd all bring them to school as well, make it the new cool thing to do (previous one was bringing jelly crystals and Raro sachets to also eat in their powdered format, much more fun).

This was ended very quickly by my mum giving me firm words: "DON'T you dare take these to school unless you're making them PROPERLY! They suck up all the water and will make you sick."

I told my friends and they all just laughed and said "Whatever!" So they did a bit of an experiment and tipped them down the drain outside the music room - to prove me and my mum wrong of course. They floated there for ages "See, nothing happens!" Next lunchtime, well, you should have seen the size of them! We all thought it looked gross (maybe due to the slime and crap that was also floating in there) and all agreed to never eat them again.

I don't mind the ones you'd find in your common stirfry and Asian cuisine but boy do I really hate the ones that come in the packets all dried up ready absorb the little water I do have in my system. .  I never had thought back to my intermediate noodle experience until now.

I will admit I suddenly get this insane craving for noodles though, every now and again. Chicken ones. Just chicken. Hate the ones with dried floating vegetables. Hate beef. .  weird sort. Infact. . why call pork, pork and beef, beef why not pig or cow. When the food that is derived from a chicken.. is called chicken - yes I know there's poultry but how often do you say "I'm just going to pop down the road and grab some poultry schnitzel" "That's cool babe, can you grab some poultry noodles oooh and a bag of poultry chips while you're at it!" Just saying. .

So the other day I had my rare craving. Meh, why not and 2 minute noodles, well I have time to make them. . . . . . 3:10pm  (LOVE cooking but don't have the time or patience for it at the moment). So in the pot they went; half the noodles brick (as I still hate them and it's really the flavour I'm just craving) and the flavouring with 3 times as much water, I'd say a cup and a half. Why not just make up the soup stuff did you say? I always want to but feel bad about wasting the noodles even though they're a hideous food. Could just buy chicken 'cup in a soup'.. ANYWAY these were on special, ridiculous actually so I grabbed some also for the high calorie intake. 3:13pm - Bubby starts grizzling.

3:40pm
They're definately cooked, still simmering in the pot as I did find a slot of time to frantically run to turn it right down to keep them warm.. I'll get there soon. Just need to feed my little boy and settle him - he's not a happy chappy at this point. I then get distracted talking to my partner once bub had gone down.

4:27pm
I had to go see my sister before dad was home so popped over there and needed groceries so proceeded there after.

5:52pm
Crap better make dinner (look at the pot still sitting on the stove, yes I turned it off as I rushed out the door to dads and groceries) I'll have to just eat them for lunch tomorrow. Made a stirfry with udon noodles for dinner and my partner then put my other noodles in the fridge. Poor man I'm sure he's always a few steps behind me ready to pick up the strayed pieces.

NEXT DAY
10:14am
SOSOSO tired I'll go to sleep for a bit while I have the chance. . .

1:24pm
Pulling the noodles out and oh what's this? A random turns up and stays for a bit, once she'd gone I now needed to feed my lil button. My noodles still sit alone and cold on the bench.

2:56pm
QUICK eat, do the washing, clean, clean, clean while you can! He's asleep!!!!!

3:07pm
Damn! Woken himself up cause he startled and Harry Houdini'd out. .  Bloody weather keeping my precious miracle wrap damp! I need it!!! *reheat noodles* I had a mouthful.

3:21pm
Sidetracked with cleaning. *reheat*

3:46pm
Would you believe it. .  I'm eating them!!!!!!!!!!

In conclusion. 2 minute noodles no longer take 2 minutes for me to cook them.  What should be a process of no longer than 12 minutes, including scoffing time, took me around 24 hours and 36 minutes to do. Life of a new mum aye?

Note to self: Don't rush off to put the dummy in and put your bowl of noodles on the ground. . Cause what took 24 hours and 36 minutes only took my adorable pup 1 minute to finish off for me - 3:53pm.

I always knew he loved me. .
