Solids - will my plunket lady be happy?

Carrots and rice today.
Today was his first day of solids.
4 months and 6 days.

He was so bloody stunned when I firmly wrapped his fingers around the special spoon with lightly warmed pureed carrot and rice on it! It made him stop crying that's for sure. I didn't think he'd eat it so he gave me a surprise too! He loved it so much I ended up maybe feeding him 4 teaspoons before I thought I'd better stop. .  so let's see if he'll sleep better tonight with starting solids. .  since I guess it's official. Crap.
I better start processing food for him!!

This is what I went off if you're thinking/unsure of solids:
Can hold head up
Sits well in highchair
Making chewing motions
Shows significant weight gain (e.g doubled from birth weight)
Show interest in food
Can close mouth around a spoon
Can move food from the front to the back of the mouth
Seems hungry after 6-8 feedings
Showing teething signs
Can transfer items from one hand to the other
Puts everything in his/her mouth
-"Darn good advice Baby"

He's been really upset lately, wakes up crying in the night regardless of the dream feed (but every odd night he'll sleep right through) but will go back to sleep once he has his dummy? Then wakes up in the morning screaming cause he's that starved? But he can't be wanting to still eat every 3 hours would he? I just don't know anymore?!?! SO maaaaybe it's time to try this.. I'm not using it as a solution so to speak but since he can't talk to tell me what's up then I'll just have to give it a go wont I?
